MAIL
There is no limit to the amount of electronic mail that an inmate/juvenile may receive. Incoming mail will be distributed electronically to inmates as it is scanned in to their accounts.
Incoming and outgoing mail will be inspected for security reasons. Mail deemed a security risk will not be delivered. Incoming mail will be reviewed by correctional staff and examined for such. Legal mail may be opened by the correctional officer in the presence of an inmate.
Any incoming or outgoing mail that is deemed to be “gang related”, “sexually explicate”, illegal activity or inappropriate shall be denied, this includes personal photographs. Pornography and/or materials which incite or demean another race, sex, religion, or sexual preference will not be allowed for control reasons.
Effective 11/01/2024 The Jail will no longer allow any books (except religious), Publications (except religious), Games, or puzzles to be mailed/shipped into the facility.

Pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 59.27(1), Wisconsin law requires the Sheriff to take charge and custody of the County Jail/Secure Detention Facility and the persons held in the Jail/Secure Detention Facility. The Sheriff assigns correctional officers to serve as safe keepers of the inmates/juveniles to operate the County Jail/Secure Detention Facility in a manner to provide for the safety and security of the public, the staff and the inmates/juveniles.
TELEPHONE CALLS
Inmates are not allowed incoming calls. They have access to a telephone once they have been moved to a housing area within the jail facility. All calls out-going are collect calls. Depending on the individual inmates classification, they may be allowed to purchase phone time. Calling cards purchased from outside vendors will not work on the jail phone system.
Family and friends are able to call and leave a voice message for the Inmate. The Inmate will got a notification that they have a message the next time they dial into the phone system. This is free for the Inmate to hear, but it will cost the family a dollar. Inmates will be able to save this message and listen to it again.

Family/Friends will have to create an account, if they do not already have one set up, prior to leaving a message.
If you are requesting to block calls from the Fond du Lac County Jail, listen to the directions from the operator at the time the call is received. If problems continue you may contact the Fond du Lac County Jail and request a block placed on your telephone number. This prohibits any calls coming into your telephone number from the jail facility.
ABSENTEE VOTING
It is the inmate responsibility to obtain an absentee ballot by mail if they wish to vote while in custody.
The My Vote Wisconsin website is designed for Wisconsin voters, both registered and non-registered. The website provides voters with registration, sample ballot, municipal clerk and polling place information.
MONEY
Money may not be dropped off at the facility. It will be accepted through the Stellar Teller, located in the front lobby of the jail at 63 Western Ave or by mail. The Stellar Teller will accept Cash, Credit or Debit Cards ONLY. There is a transaction fee charged by the company owning this machine. By mail, we will accept Cashier Checks or Money Orders. Do not send any personal letters or pictures in when sending in Cashier Checks or money orders they will not be delivered. Below is the address to send Money Orders and Cashier Checks only:

All monies that come into the facility are entered into the inmate’s canteen account. The computer system will automatically deduct any debts (hospital charges/labs, medications, nurse/doctor visits, record reviews, etc.) that an inmate has accumulated.
Basic hygiene supplies are given to regular status inmates when they first arrive at the facility. Inmates will be required to then purchase these items through the canteen services, which are provided on a weekly basis. No hygiene products, clothing or undergarments will be accepted into the facility.

COURT HEARINGS
Court appearances are set by the courts for inmates held in custody, therefore in the event there is a question regarding a court appearance, the courts are to be contacted. The jail must rely on notification from the courts for this information also.
Normally, persons brought in on new charges and/or warrants will make an appearance in front of the Intake Courtroom Judge or via video conference at 11am the day following the arrest (Monday –Friday) This courtroom is located on the 2nd floor of the City/County Building, 160 South Macy Street, and the appearance may be viewed on the monitor located in the court room.
POSTING OF BOND/CASH BAIL
Charges for County or City of Fond du Lac -May be posted at the Clerk of Courts, 160 South Macy, Fond du Lac, Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm. Clerk of Courts is located on the 2nd floor of the City/County Building. Any other time at the front lobby of the Fond du Lac County Jail 63 Western Avenue, Fond du Lac.
Lakeside Municipal Court –We do not accept credit cards for Lakeside Municipal court charges or warrant. The Fond du Lac County jail will accept cash in order to post bond for a subject held in our custody.
Lakeside Municipal Court (920-924-2479) – payments are taken at the North Fond du Lac Police Dept, 16 Garfield Street, North Fond du Lac, Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
Out of County warrants – subject must be in custody of another jail/facility in Wisconsin.
Bond will be accepted at the Jail, 63 Western Avenue. Amount for warrant must be in the exact amount and in cash.
Subjects in the Fond du Lac County Jail on warrants from other counties. Bond may be posted by cash or through the Stellar Teller system in the Jail Lobby. The Stellar Teller accepts credit or debit cards for these payments.
Credit Cards- Government Payment Service, Inc. (GPS) provides an ability to use a credit card for posting of bond/bail. A non-refundable transaction assessment fee is added to all transactions. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and Discover cards are accepted. (Personal Checks are not accepted)
Anyone may use this method of payment as long as they have an accepted credit card and provide proper identification such as a valid driver’s license or photo ID card. Authorization of credit card charge must be done in person.
Credit card payments will not be accepted for any out of county warrants/bonds, Lakeside Municipal charges or warrants..

COURT ORDERED FOR FINGERPRINT, PHOTOGRAPH and DNA
The Court has ordered you to report for the taking of fingerprints and photographs. This is required by State Law for each new charge. Even if you have already done this for old charges, it is still required for each new charge.
WHEN YOU REPORT YOU MUST BRING ALONG THE COPY OF THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT / JUDGEMENT OF CONVICTION THAT WAS MAILED TO YOU. You can get another copy from your attorney or from the Clerk of Courts Office for a fee per page.
You should report no later than your next court date. IF YOU FAIL TO REPORT, YOUR BOND COULD BE REVOKED AND YOU COULD BE JAILED. Do not report intoxicated or with any type of weapons.
If your charge alleges that a crime was committed in the CITY OF FOND DU LAC, then you must schedule an appointment by using the following signup link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4DA5AF2CA5FEC34-fingerprinting This is for CITY OF FOND DU LAC POLICE DEPARTMENT at 126 N. Main St., Fond du Lac.
If your charge alleges that a crime was committed anywhere in FOND DU LAC COUNTY (except within the City of Fond du Lac), then you should call the FOND DU LAC COUNTY JAIL, at (920) 906-5511 to schedule an appointment during the following days and times: Mondays 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. or Saturdays 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Subjects must possess a valid Identification card or Drivers license.

Then the fingerprints are taken at Cartridge World at 23 North Main Street, FDL.
Applicant fingerprinting would include:

Foster Care license
Naturalization application
Firearms application
Passport application
Face to Face registration, Probation and Parole, and Sex Registration fingerprints are no charge.
Must have paperwork along provided by the Probation/Parole Agent.
DNA testing by court order or by order of the Probation and Parole agent, proper identification required.
RELEASE TIME
Normal release for all those serving a jail sentence is 12:00am, except those on the GPS/SWRP program or anyone under age 18. ES Sanctions will be released at 8 a.m.
Individuals being released by court order and/or after Intake Court hearing, outprocessing takes approximately 1 hour. These individuals are released in the front lobby of the jail. (63 Western Ave).
PERSONAL PROPERTY
If the inmate is requesting to release property, the inmate must make arrangements with correctional staff prior to the times listed below. They are responsible for completing a property release form in writing within 48 hours to release property.
Property release times are as follows:
Mondays 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
No personal property, clothing, or medication will be accepted in without prior approval. Jury trial clothing should be dropped off through an attorney, the day before a jury trial begins.
The Fond du Lac County Jail will no longer accept in any books (except religious), publications (except religious), games, or puzzles.
Most personal property items may be purchased through the canteen system. The Inmates are provided with soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush at booking.
