Sheriff's Amphibious Rescue Craft

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office took delivery of the Sheriff's Amphibious Rescue Craft (SARC) on November 16, 2011. The SARC is capable of conducting effective search and rescue missions on open water, ice, snow and marsh conditions. The SARC was built and designed by Midwest Rescue Airboats, LLC, Lawrence, Kansas. The SARC, operated by a crew of three deputies, can carry the entire dive team and equipment out to a scene safely. The SARC is 18 feet long, 8 feet wide and is powered by a 6.2 liter 650 HP Mast Motorsports engine. These engines are the latest technology and deliver big torque and power while still maintaining great reliability and fuel economy. This engine weighs 200-300 Lbs. less than a traditional big block engine. This torque to weight ratio is essential for deputies to traverse areas of lakes and marshes that are difficult to reach.
