The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Civil Process Division handles the service of legal papers pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 59.27(4) which states “The Sheriff, personally or by the undersheriff or deputies, serve or execute all processes, writs, precepts and orders issued or made by lawful authority and delivered to the Sheriff.”

Papers for service will be accepted at the Sheriff’s Office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (except for holidays) or they may be mailed to the following address:

Only papers for service with a valid Fond du Lac County address will be accepted.

When requesting paper service, please provide the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office with the paper to be served plus one additional identical copy per party being served. The additional copy will be returned to you along with a Certificate of Service or a Certificate of Attempted Service.

Pre-payment is required for all Civil Process Services. Cash, money order, business checks or credit/debit cards are accepted. A credit/debit card payment will need to be done in person or over the phone AFTER the papers are received. The fees for service are set by the County Board Resolution.
